Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the group access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
