Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
A high-ranking political figure said the attack made him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in 2020.
